Ok, I'm leaving for Culebra on the 20th of September. My wife and I are avid snorklers so we're looking for the absolute best snorkeling spots on the island.
Normally we go to St. John USVI, but Culebra has been calling us for a lot of years. We're on the island from the 21st to 29th. I usually snorkel 2 sites per day, and I'll be there 7 full days. So I need up to 14 different sites.
So I'm desperately asking for your advice and help with finding the best snorkeling spots on the island.
I appreciate your help.
John

I'm sure eveyone will chime in with their personal favorites, but Tamarindo, Carlos Rosario, Melones, and Punta Soldado are personal favorites. I assure you, you won't be disappointed by Culebra's snorkeling -- our waters are some of the best, if not the best, in the Caribbean (or the world for that matter).
Be sure to check out Diving Debbie's Underwater posts and pictures here on the forum.....they will definately wet your whistle!
Enjoy your Visit!

Wow, this internet stuff is amazing!
I post a message and within a half an hour I have a response from halfway around the world. (Now if I could just get the local DMV to move that quickly).
I'll try to find Debbie's posts. Thanks so much for the heads up.

She's so popular on this site, she has her very own section.......

I forgot to mention, I'd highly recommend going out with with Taz (Aquatic Adventures) or Walter and Monica (Culebra Divers) as you'll be able to access some great snorkel sites from their boats.......
Feel free to ask any questions.....

Hey thanks for your ideas.
I read a lot of the posts on here and looked at Deb's incredible pics. It sounds like snorkeling advice can be simplified to, "go to the west side of the island and get in the water."
I'm just warning you, the success of this forum is a two-edged sword for Culebra. The more readily available knowledge there is on the internet, the more new people (like me) will come to visit Culebra. This will forever change the flavor of things on the island.
I saw it happen on St. John. I started reading and posting to a USVI forum about 10 years. At that time when you visited St. John, you could virtually have the island to yourself. Now it's so busy, that there is no longer an off-season on St. John and real estate prices have gone through the sky.
So my suggestion to the good people of this board - conspire to lie!
Tell everybody that Culebra is located in middle of a rare Artic current. Post pictures of icebergs in Ensenada Honda. Tell people that the Titanic actually sank off the coast of Culebra (people are gullable, they'll believe anything). Tell them that the average tempeture in Culebra is below freezing.
Explain that Culebra is surrounded by great schools of ravenous man-eating sharks and that great and fearsome leviathon will pull ships down to a watery grave right off shore. Let them know that it isn't safe to be in the water in Culebra. In fact, tell them that the water is so unsafe, that you wouldn't even recommend they get in the bath tub while in Culebra.
Quit telling the world that Culebra is friendly. Instead tell them that there are tribes of cannibals and head-hunters that call the island home.
Perhaps then, you can save your beautiful island paradise.

| LOL....we hope to discourage the visitors that are not good matches for Culebra (the beauty of an island with no tourist traps is that it is not for everyone) and encourage those that we know will love Culebra and cherish and nuture her for generations to come.

| Hopefully Culebra will always stay as pristine as she is now.
