Very neat! So amazing to see the differences in that funny old bird! and how cool to see a bald headed eagle. I was at Tamarindo the other day and heard screaming birds...two red tailed hawks were harassing some very tiny birds, but at our approach, they started spirling upward, until finally they were literally above the lowest level of clouds. Beautiful (and yes I tried for a photo, but it wasn't happening).

Chief among the differences is the white pelican's enjoyment of 17 degree temperatures. The pelican shots were taken at a lock and dam estuary with a 25 knot wind. Wind chill was ridiculous, and shortly after that shot, my camera froze up. Hard core bird-heads would enjoy the "kettling" behavior of the pelicans. I haven't seen the big kahuna yet this year, but in the past there have been huge vortexes of tens of thousands of them at very high altitude - needing strong binocs to identify - I'll be watching again this spring.

speaking of weather, thank you SO much for sending us your crappy St. Louis weather.......
SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES ACROSS SOUTHERN
MAINE DURING THE MID TO LATE MORNING HOURS. LOOK FOR A QUICK
QUARTER INCH OF GLAZE TO ACCUMULATE...WITH UP TO A HALF INCH OF
ICE ACCRETION OVER INTERIOR MAINE...MAKING FOR HAZARDOUS TRAVEL. WINDS
WILL BE GUSTY FROM THE NORTHEAST AT 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40
MPH RIGHT ALONG THE WATER. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN IN THE 20S TO
LOWER 30S.
