beware Century plants -- they are lethal!! I was trying to get a shot of this colorful guy, and didn't even feel the darn thing slice my leg -- finally felt something on my foot (and because I was photographing a spider had the creepy crawlies) and looked down to find a pool of blood. If you're out hiking, beware these plants -- I have learned a healthy respect for them!

Think of it this way...at least here, you were outside, in shorts, taking pics of beautiful plants AND your blood didn't freeze before it rolled down your leg

and I decided to pack the St. John's Wort for healing purposes......haven't had the guts yet to put it on the slice.....that's going to take some bravery I just don't have yet....if you hear yells from this way, it's just me and my st. john's wort.

I think you are supposed to ingest St. John's wort...so you don't care if you are bleeding

well that might work, but I use it topically -- it's a wonder drug for promoting healing in cuts and wounds -- just stings like the dickens!

Admin, you must have an Aloe plant in that garden, slice a leaf and use that juice for healing. It stinks and looks ugly for a bit, but really heals fast.

Ooohh! The saltwater sounds like it would be a real stinger!! I didn't realize St. John's Wort was a good topical healer---thanks for the tip! Though it doesn't sound like my kids will be too excited about the stinging part!
Take care of your mighty white leg! I would like to see an "after" photo of the healing process...and a tan!

Thank goodness she didn't show us her toes.
Vitamin E topically - break it open and spread it on - heals wounds too.

I had an all too brief sighting today of the leg and the woman it's attached to; she's going to live.
And I do believe I saw the blush of the sun on her skin...but I did have my very dark sunglasses on...

i told you I wouldn't go downtown until I had sat in the sun for at least an hour.....I managed to get the St. Johns Wort on -- it's truly a miracle -- I'm sure it will be healed in a couple of days, but it sure does sting putting it on!!!!
It was SOOOOOO good seeing all the familiar faces today, including meeting Capt. Crunch who is such a winner!
