United States Naval Fleet Resumes Caribbean Patrol

CaribWorldNews, MIAMI, FL, Weds. July 2, 2008:  The United States Fourth Naval Fleet has resumed operations off the Caribbean and the length of Latin America for the first time since 1950.

US Department of Defense officials say the measure is aimed at building confidence and trust in the region by focusing on common threats.

Based in Florida, the fleet will include various ships, including aircraft carriers and submarines and will patrol waters from the Caribbean and along the length of Latin America's coastline.
The fleet will help fight drug traffickers and work on humanitarian and diplomatic exercises.

"Re-establishing the Fourth Fleet recognizes the immense importance of maritime security in the southern part of the Western Hemisphere," said Chief of Naval Operations Adm Gary Roughead.

But some leaders in the region like Bolivian President Evo Morales, former Cuban President Fidel Castro and Venezuela`s Hugo Chavez have criticized the move.

The Fourth Fleet was created during the Second World War to combat German U-boats targeting merchant shipping lines in the South Atlantic.  But when the war ended the fleet was deemed to be no longer necessary and was disbanded in 1950.

The return comes as Americans pause on July 4th to mark another independence anniversary.

Hmm, somehow this doesn't give me that warm and fuzzy confidence and trust feeling...can't imagine why.

Venezuelan Oil ! (One of the largest Oil Reserves
in the World behind Saudi Arabia and Canada...Canada? yep)

Iraq Oil is in question, Iran has more influence and
strength. We can't take on Iran, they'd clobber us
unless we go nuclear, so Chavez who already has
been staged as the boogeyman, will take the hit.

Just one further little embarrassment from Hugo,
he was instrumental in orchestrating the release of
the Columbian hostages (who have been portrayed
as being released by trickery rather than give the
devil its do) while trying to destabilize the continuous
coup attempts by the U.S. through its mega-bucks
campeon Gustavo Cisneros.

Cisneros? he owns everything else in latin America
except the OIL. And of course he's bosom buddies with.....
yes, you guessed it..the Bushes.

Oh but there is going to be a U.S. presidential
election, even Chavez is hopeful. Will it make
any difference? Of course not, this is Oil baby!

Geoorge Carlin was right, it's a freak show and there is
nothing you can do about it, just stay out of the line of fire.

I know. That man Chavez who is doing such terrible things as giving the poor access to doctors and medical facilities and creating, imagine that, a regional bank so that Latin America doesn't have to rely exclusively on the IMF and the World Bank who have been sooo good with lending money to these countries  "with no strings attached"  (yeah right).

Chavez is a Castro aspirant without the charisma. Any actions that appear to benefit the Venezuelan people are orchestrated to keep Chavez in power and the people in check. Unfortunately, as in most cases, the poor are the political pawns used by oppressive rulers like Chavez to position themselves as their savior and retain power.

His state-run Oil Company is reaping record profits, but are the Venezuelan people?
