The national weather service notes ongoing venting of ash and steam from the Montserrat volcano, which if you are on Culebra is what has made it look as though we are in a pea soup fog.    The web site is http://www.nws.noaa.gov.   A map comes up and on the lower edge there is an entry "Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands".  Bop on that and then wend your way through.   The weather discussion will include comments for the aviation world if there's anything of note -- which is the case this evening.   Don't think we'll even see the sunset, let alone get one with extra color because of the ash....   Sunrise might be pretty spectacular.

you people need to set your complaining priorities straight. I'll see the sunset, but it will be from the warmth of inside next to my fireplace (thank you Santa)....and I still can't open my store because the front door is blocked by a 6" high block of solid ice. Rock Salt won't work until it's at least 20 degrees. Other stores in town, during last week during "the thaw" (that means 35 degrees) got severely flooded, and at least 3 had their entire floor buckle.

so enjoy your WARM view of the ash.

Watch your tongue missy! Delta canceled it's last two flights of the day today due to volcanic activity. Please keep your fingers crossed that I make it down there tomorrow. Some are in San Juan tonight; the rest of us are going tomorrow.
