I don't know if this so very sad news brings laughter at some of the wonderful memories, or deep sadness at the community's loss to the forefront of my mind.....so I'm going to try and stick to the laughter end of it.....Ron certainly knew how to light up a room and put a smile on our faces. Perhaps one of my favorite memories is how nervous he was at performing his oh so funny and very catchy 40th Birthday song for Ann (and he being one of far too many guys that were more than willing to dress up in Paradise Gift Shop attire).
I hope that he has found peace, and his suffering is in the past......Attachment: Ron 1.jpeg (Downloaded 134 times)

Jim asked if I had any pictures of Ron, and so I pulled out the old files.....I found this one, and I'm certainly not looking so great in this picture, but it certainly was one of those memorable, fun beyond crazy nights (you'd be surprised at the uses for white-out and the effects of the feared blue things aka Duvall Crawls)....but what struck me about this picture is that these three great, crazy, wonderful guys, all very special to me, have all now gone on to thier next chapter in this world......and that makes me realize how precious and unpredictable life can be.....take a moment now to tell those that you love and hold close to your heart how much they mean to you.

How haunting to have Bobby in the backgound.
Sadly there is one more to add to the list, Terry Holmes of Terry and Carol fame. They were in Culebra for a few years and had opened Galeria in the old Barbara Rosa's and then a short stint at the Hotel Kokomo.

And that's David McGuire in the foreground.
Oh, and Terry too? Terry and Ron were quite close -- the musician in them created a bond.....there were many a late night at Galleria.....so many good souls have left us......

To my dear Culebra friends:
Ron Ash, my best friend and the light of my life, died peacefully yesterday morning (Oct. 14) at home after a long illness. He had been under Hospice care for the past month. His family, who have become my family, were here for him and are now here for me.
As he requested, he is being cremated. I plan to have a gathering here at home in celebration of his life in two or three weeks.
Ron and I spent many pleasant hours reminiscing about our friends and our life in Culebra. Because Culebra brought us together, it will always hold a special place in my heart—as will all of you.
Love, Pat (Megnin)

| yes, sadly, David left us around 5 years ago.......his body and nervous system was torn up and destroyed from all the years of using the glue installing kitchen counters.

Thanks, I remember now, funny but when you mentioned the glue
'it brought it all back. He was one helluva great guy. I think part of
the problem is we are getting older, I'm 60 now, seems strange and
even stranger Barbara turns 60 this Dec. We've been together since
she was 15 and was 16! Sometimes peoople are amazed at how
long and how young we were, we however are just clueless, it
seems like we've always had each other and anything else just
doesn't register. Mark and Susan's, Susan share the same birthday
and year I believe as Bubba and if you are in town around the 4th of
Dec look out we are gonna "let out all the stops"
Swiss Johanna's going away (sad) party will be next thursday at
BarbaraRosa's 4:30 til ?? Everybody is ready for a party!

It's sad that she is going but it will NOT be a sad party! We may be older, but we're not dead...and for the ones who are, they'd be partying with us if they could and, yes, I believe they are with us, saying, go!!!
So for the ones here, for the ones gone, for the ones here that go away in our immediate lives, to other new spaces and places...we carry on. They are always with us. Come celebrate the why of it all.

Don't forget the Reaper Cheaters, MJ! I talked to Pat the other day and she sends her love to her Culebra family.
