WOW i don't ever remember a storm like this in January. The roads look like rivers below us, and the thunder sounded like angry giants (wasnt there a child's story featuring giants making thunder?). This morning we are giving thanks we dont live on a boat or in a tent! Cayo Norte will look like Broccoli when the sun comes out. This is a lovely Martin Luther King Day..

yes, the photographer in me is anxiously waiting for the sun to come out -- the greens and flowers and birds and bees are all going to be out in their full glory.....this is heaven!!

However, the photographer in me who was trying to get some lightening strike shots was a tad bit jumpy.....there were some very close ones....I hope everyone on hills is OK!!

I jumped, I admit it...when at least one strike seemed to hit home...literally. Seem being the operative word here.
The pool is full now...

The dinghy is getting full (the lull only lasted long enough to shoot, not to bail).

so I can get fussy about my photography, and the chlorine bucket was in the picture, so I braved it (or was stupid enough is a more accurate term) to run out and move the bucket.....

don't you think this shot is much better?  Note that my folk's pool is literally underwater -- I can hear the plants and soil and critters singing with joy!

Well, two people here (at least) have reported a zizzling experience with the lightning, close enough to crouch down and be in the light...enough to cause neighbors to call and make sure all was well. And all WAS well, electric didn't blink, everything fine, no burn holes found...yet.

Although we're in a lull right now, more is headed this way, the stuff with the red in it...

Awesome shots of the storm!  I am a lover of thunderstorms, but we don't get the awesome hilltop views here that Admin does!  I have to admit I am jealous!  I hope everyone is still well and amazingly with power!

I didn't see the dinghy question earlier...it's wonderful to have the responsibility of bailing again. That's one of those chores I, for some reason, always liked. Maybe it's the instant gratification aspect - one minute a sloppy semi-sinking situation, the next, high, dry and bobbin' along.

The sky is breaking its layers open, getting more bright every minute, while radar shows diminishing spots of rain from the southeast. San Juan looks to be getting blasted. Yes, it's amazing we all kept power!!

It feels like it should be time for the sunset, but it is only after mid-day! Maybe time for a walk about...
