Tomorrow (Wednesday Feb 20) night there will be a total lunar eclipse.   It should be at its maximum at about 11:26 PM here on Culebra.   Let's hope for a clear night!!

A very informative article about watching eclipses here. I especially liked the part about the different colors going on during the eclipse. Let's see if we can catch any of them on...er...pixels! (just found this for you more advanced photo types...go for it! http://www.mreclipse.com/LEphoto/LEphoto.html )

This is from the NASA web site:

(adding this...they actually had the diagram for AST! and the article itself is good too).

LOL....I'm a wreck trying to prepare to capture it all on film.....although I must say I might just sit back and enjoy the show and let Mother Nature have her moment in the moonlight......

we're supposed to have clear, but frosty skies tomorrow night.  Whatever happens, I'm excited!!!!

thanks for the article link -- there is surprisingly little out there that I've found that is helpful.....

Wind chill is supposed to be 8 degrees during the eclipse.  I'll windex the picture window.

and this is what I'm standing next to as I take these pictures.  I never, ever, ever want to hear anyone on Culebra complaining about the cold again.....this is beyond nuts to be doing this......in all honesty, I can barely feel my fingers.  I'm going to wait until it gets a little more exciting to go outside again.

What's wonderful to think about is that you and Hillman were doing the same shoots in such totally different places about an event so magical.   Thanks, admin, and hope that you got inside to a hot mug of cocoa or tea as soon as you took the full coverage shot.

Congrats on the shots AND the fortitude. I was thinking of you (NOT sarcastically either) while I was sitting in the yard in my nightgown and robe.  Well done!
We had a huge cloud cover RIGHT at the apex of the eclipse. Then it cleared up in full cover...oh dear god! There might be someone, and I'm sure there is, who could capture that surreal 3 D looking red ball, those stars, Saturn...but it wasn't me (edited to say: it was Laurie and Hillman! Yee haw!) Mesmerizing.

This was the half way mark here.

As cold as it was, I loved it.  What fabulous colors.  Great pix, y'all.  MJ births another postcard...
