Today the illegal bulldozing to create roads down to Brava beach was stopped by a combination of the Culebra police and the DRNA vigilantes, for which we are extremely grateful. The person who had hired the bulldozer once again, despite a court order not to do it, crossed private land without permission, moved an earthen berm meant to prevent vehicular access, and proceeded partway down the path to
Brava beach, again through private land. Turns out that her permit from DRN to bulldoze a narrow road on HER land only had expired in any case. Hooray for the turtles and hooray for keeping Culebra's landscape undisturbed!!!!

rumor has it that Bayberry herself stepped in front of the bulldozer to help stop it.....I think it's called dozerhugging.

Great news. Good things are going on in the multi-faceted battles, even though sometimes it's a see-saw. Eventually the reality is going to hit that it is no longer Open Season on the destruction of protected areas.

| Do you have a link to the photo of the bulldozed striip of land that was posted a while back? That is so clear to see (or remind us) of what is happening.

| Just want to add words of deepest gratitude and admiration for the two men who spent more than 5 hours yesterday pulling together the querellas and then the "paralization" order re the Brava bulldozing. Officer Martinez of the Culebra police and Vigilante Romero of DRNA both responded almost sooner than immediately to our complaints and eventually teamed up out on the Brava property, hiked down toward the beach and hand delivered the papers stopping the work. Then they made sure that when the bulldozer left it did not do any further damage to private property and essentially escorted it back up to the perpetrators' land. Thankyou, thankyou Officer Martinez and Vigilante Romero, for going the extra mile, literally and figuratively.

Could be, but since I don't know any better, on Planet MJ, that will be his name as well

I wish I was on Planet MJ right now -- Planet Saucy is being thrilled that it reached 30 degrees today -- everyone was running around with no jackets (including me).

I got the story first hand from Doug and Orlando on Friday afternoon - so glad Doug and MaryAnn came along when they did to also offer assistance.
Good on you, dozerhugger!

Having hiked the path to Brava yesterday, I'm shocked at how far the bulldozer got down the path. Sometimes the treads were faint, sometimes they were obvious, but they traversed for a long way.
Someone remind me - the bulldozed path parallel to the beach at the crest of the hill is the real estate agent's property? Can she not get from her property parcels to the beach? What's the reason she's using the existing footpath as her personal road to the beach?
Thanks,
Debbie

Either she figures that once cleared, she can claim that it is an "existing" road, or she wants to transfer her net worth to the legal profession. I don't think any rocket scientists are sweating their jobs because of her.

| the bulldozed road at the top of the hill parallel to Brava is the 3 lane highway bulldozed across my folk's property to gain access to her property, which is land locked. This caused the intial charges being filed against her in January, and temporary stop order being issued.
