hate to burst your bubble, but that is mostly FAT with a little fur thrown in for good measure. Let the record show that at the end of the winter, Molly Bayberry weighs several pounds lighter than when she arrives at High Fields Zoo. We run a tight ship here.

You are right Debbie, she is beautiful!  A truly beautiful puffball!!  Now I have to ask, is she a Maine Coon?  Our Mr. Kitty showed up as a stray, but everyone always thought he looked Maine Coon-ish, just not quite big enough.  I think Miss Molly may qualify as having Maine Coon stature! :)

Yes == she's sure is a Maine Coon (though without registered papers).   That description comes with mixed feelings.    Coons have very strong personalities which  often mean lots of mischief, combined with a nearly 100% resistance to discipline and changing of the ways.     For instance, Molly is determined that playtime is 3:30 AM and although she has a dozen toys downstairs (which she does bring up quite often but never at 3:30 AM).   Chief prank at that hour is swiping things off of bedside tables and my desk (try paperclips cascading downstairs, followed by the THUMP of the stapler at that hour).    The upside, and an upside that more than makes up for her bad habits, is her extraordinary affectionateness.    She always runs to greet us when we come home and rub against our legs.   Molly loves to drape herself across our laps and just purr contentedly, also she has her own pillow on the bed.   But then we get back to the bad news:   her purr is three times as loud as any other cat I've ever known, and she purrs constantly....

Well, you all get the picture.    Admin's zoo is good for her.

she also snores.

Beachbound -- Maine Coons have distinctive tufts of hair in their ears as well as paws --- one way of telling. Certainly from the picture of Mr. Kitty, I'd guess an awful lot of Maine Coon went into that handsome boy!

Miss Molly sure does sound like a fun kitty to have around!  Though I wouldn't be very fond of the 3:30 playtime either!  How old is she?  And truly, if I looked like Miss Molly, I don't think I would be too open to discipline either! ;)

Mr. Kitty definitely has the tufts of ear and paw hair, so we will definitely call him a Maine Coon mix.  I think he got some of the personality traits also, though he has certainly mellowed in his older years.  Mr. Kitty has definitely had to adjust to change.  He has moved at least 7 times in his life.  When he belonged to my in-laws we were never allowed to bring our dog over because it might upset him.  Well, now he lives with 2 dogs and another cat and does great.  And when we have foster dogs or doggie visitors, who run right up to him and get in his face, he doesn't budge, just sits there giving them "the look".  Doesn't hiss, doesn't swat, just "the look".......they back off every time!

He is a talker too, he doesn't just meow at us, he is really speaking and you totally understand what he is saying just by the tone of his meow and his facial expression.  We really love him (poor litter etiquette and all) and are so glad that we were able to take him into our home.

Here is a picture of him in his younger, poofier days:

Mr. Kitty is for all intents and purposes 100% Maine Coon. As a matter of fact, he looks like Madame Molly's twin brother!!! He's got the distinctive bushy chest.

Maybe her MUCH older brother, huh?  Actually our kids were hoping that Mr. Kitty and Miss Molly could go out on a date!!  LOL!  Miss Molly could snore and Mr. Kitty could drool a little.....a match made in heaven!

I like them Maine Coons, that's what a cat is supposed to look like.
Barbara and I went all out one time and bought a pair of
Blue smoke persians. We got them at a good price because they didn't
have the obligatory smashed in nose OR asthma problems. though
they still cost a fortune, and funny enough the male Rajah Kahn
(the femaile was Chaka Kahn of course) had a big head, all the snooty
breeders thought he was ugly, he was in fact magnificent, looked just
like big cat, in fact he looked like a....Maine Coon!
By the way the breeder who was thinking of destroying Rajah at
one time had Asthma herself, I think there was some kind of sick
validation of her self.
Here's two pics to prove my point, the one on the left actually looks
like the breeder, REALLY

From the Animal Protective Association, same as Gumbo :P

Originally she was white (blue?) underneath and dark on top and, as a kitty, looked like a mushroom.  After a few weeks we shortened it to Shroom.   I'm stickin' to that story regardless of any waterboarding.

Doug next time you get to culebra check out the area
across the street from the Old Barbara Rosa's
(Felo's house) Felo's cat who we used to call Mr. Grey
is Gumbo's doppleganger.

Oh Debbie, Cleocatra is GORGEOUS!!  I am a sucker for black cats, we always seemed to have one growing up.  I love the name too!:)

Here is the closest we come to a black cat at the moment.  I was told I HAD to post his pic also, so he wouldn't feel like we loved Mr. Kitty more!

Stratton, formerly half of the brothership of Briggs & Stratton, known for their loud purring.  Briggs has gone on to a better place.

Stratton is a good looking boy too! Cleocatra has even been to Culebra to munch on her first lizards! She's even better looking in person (or is that in cat?) Guess I'll have to try and capture Twinkle Toes on film.....never an easy thing to do --she's not big on sitting still.
