I once knew a diver (who went by the moniker drdread on scubadiving.com) who set up a special section on his website to post scuba pictures. He rotated them, so there was a fresh one each day. You didn't have to be a great photographer; he didn't filter through the pictures; he posted whatever was submitted. It was a great way to start the day; I had it bookmarked for years. Unfortunately, a couple of kids, greyhound rescue volunteering, work and everyday life got in the way of the Scuba Picture Uv the Day. I'll resurrect it here in some shape or form. Like drdread, I'll be posting whatever SPUD comes along, whether a good shot or not, and I encourage others to post their pictures here. No reason this needs to consist of only my pictures! Only disclaimer - I can't promise a picture every day.

Does it even have to be a SPUD? How about IPOD - Island Picture Of the Day? At the risk of crossing Mr. Jobs' copyright lawyers, perhaps we'll not make that a front and center topic. If you've got pictures of the island, post them here.

I'll start it off with a bang. This is one of my all time favorite scuba pictures. It was taken in North Carolina (YES - North Carolina) where we were diving some wrecks off of Morehead City. The funny story about that trip is the seas were high, and every one was getting sick on the way to the dive site. The captain wasn't helping; he didn't slow that boat down for a single wave. There were two sisters on this trip whose last name is Hurley, and they came to be known as the Hurling Hurleys. :D

Enjoy the first SPUD!

The captain was an ass and the Hurley girls were heroines. Your photo was delightful...a magical mix of color and texture. I wouldn't want it on my plate but I would hang it on my wall!

Today, in honor of Pan and the community's effort to regain their rightful access to beaches, we rub the Buddha's belly for good luck.

Thanks -- as the Knowlton's head off to Culebra court today to start the fight to protect Brava, and as our hearts are also with Pan today in Farjardo (this island is going nuts crazy), we'll take all the help from Buddha and any other higher spirits/entities we can get.....I have stateside clothes on -- yuck -- but the court requires closed shoes and no shorts.....:(

Debbie,

Absolutely gorgeous.   Please put me on the preorder list for a 8 by 10 glossy.    What are we seeing?

LOL....I heard from a reliable source that the movie was rated R, but worth the giggle factor....

Yes, Maryann, bless her, was there with us today in Culebra, as the Brava insanity goes on (Bayberry has posted a report, and I'm just too tired to do one of my own (and mad))

I haven't heard first hand yet how Pan did in Fajardo, but I know Maricarmen will be posting soon -- I heard on the street that he had to apologize to Victor -- a fate worse than going to jail.

The Sea Star you mean? No idea - I've tried for years to identify it with no luck. It doesn't seem to be a Caribbean species, but it was quite common in that area of North Carolina (as are many Caribbean species of other animals). If anyone has any id books from the northern Atlantic, I suspect it might be a species from that area.

No...it was painful but NOT worse than going to jail. I'm proud of Pan for doing what he did, a stand I wouldn't have taken not so long ago (what the hell are the sirens about? It doesn't sound good, coming from your end of the island Laurie :( )
For those watching, it was pretty obvious that a forced apology was simply a wise move. The handshaking part - ugh, but I personally believe it was NOT worth going to jail for...the right side is winning, poco a poco. Victor actually said maybe he was MAYBE wrong about the beach access thing. So at a snail's pace...it's moving in the right direction.
We were all thinking of your family today as well, Laurie. Slow by slow as the bad elements try to destroy the very reason they tout Culebra, I do believe we have to fight the battles.

Debbie, I'm assuming a typo, that we CAN talk?!!

What typo? ;)

I love the edit feature on this board, even when my errors must be pointed out. :D

Glad to hear you guys are making progress, slowly but surely, against Gonzalez.

Right now it exists on analogue tape.  If we can figure out how to get it in a format that can play on Youtube it'll be up.  I think I can do that with our TV unit. You realize, of course, that said video is rated R?

What happened at Fajardo?  I talked to CORALations - she said she was there with the Knowltons, but had to run - a reporter on the other line.

Doug

So, I was shopping at a certain high end store today looking for a Valentine's present for a certain someone who may eventually sign up to use this forum, and they have a gadget to digitize records, cassettes and reel-to-reels (whatever that is; I am old enough for records, but too young for 8 tracks and reel-to-reels)!

Is this mysterious video on a VCR tape? Not that it works with above-described gadget, but curious if that's what you mean by analogue.
