I love seeing these guys.....it means the coyotes have moved on.....and I'll take turkeys over coyotes any day.

that they do.....now that the coyotes have moved out (thank goodness!!!!), the turkeys have moved back in and every day I see them in my yard......soon they'll have young with them, and they are adorable!

Just returned from a wonderful series of kayak floats on the Current River in Eminence, MO, and the Buffalo in NW Arkansas.
Birds of note - seen, not photographed:
Current:
pair of summer tanagers
several wild turkeys
osprey
bald eagle
American redstart
mallard chicks about the size of golfballs
barred owls on the wing
Baltimore oriole
redtail hawks
Buffalo:
Osprey
Bald eagle
Harris' hawk
Swainson's hawk
Black vulture
Plus, I saw a couple cottonmouths. These are very mean critters that I have no desire to ever tangle with. About 3 feet long and 6-8 inches in diameter in the middle. Very rare in MO, common in AR. Map turtles, painted turtles, alligator snappers and other species snappers. Softshells, stinkpots, red ears, as many as 15 on a single log, soaking up the sun.
