this is a scaly-naped pigeon.....very prevalent this time of year in Culebra.

paws nest - here's my favorite lingual/cultural story from Culebra.
Monika's (dive shop) first language is Swiss German - in case others reading this do not know that. She said something in English one time that made me laugh out loud in front of other people. I can't remember what exactly. Of course, she asked why I laughed, and I tried to pass it off, not wanting to embarrass her for her grammar mistake. She insisted that I tell her, saying "I will never learn if you don't correct me." What a good point she had. So, of course, I corrected her then, and I feel free to correct her always now. I hope when I am good enough at speaking Spanish, that Spanish speaking people will correct me too.

| MJ can tell you that I am not shy at all about correcting people with their Spanish. If you are trying that is what counts for me. It is those that don't try that give me a hard time. Tha,t is the way to learn. My roommate in college was very good at that and that is how I leraned, sort of. The nuns were good at it too!
