Okay guys, check it out. I'm headed home the day after the Regatta, and at the airport, I run into Giovanni Hidalgo, Millo Perres and a half dozen musicians from Millo's band, el Tercer Planeta, at CPX. Giovanni and I shared a couple Presidentes, tho' we had to put his in a Heinekin bottle ("They're payin' me!")
I've been a fan since the late '80s or early '90s when I first heard his CD, Villa Hidalgo.

Anyway, here we are. From left to right, one of el Tercer Planeta hornblowers, Hidalgo, me and Millo Torres.

Oh yeah! He told me he's been coming to Culebra for years. I wonder if it's out of the realm to book him for New Years. Certainly, it'd make Regatta an attractive time to come, if he were to come back. If that's out of reach, they ought to look into Millo's band - he gave me a live CD and it RAWKS, too!

You're hanging with the stars, Doug...super cool!
It's been a while since I listened to music, so I'm not sure about this. I always loved Mongo's version of WATERMELON MAN, but Giovanni's version has him beat (or is it Poncho?) Anyway, great musicians all of them.
