What a joy it is to go to the Culebra Dump and be entertained by the Laughing Gulls.

Funny you should post that...I was coming into my drive this afternoon and there was this laughing gull playing in a tree in the yard. At first I thought its foot must be caught in something because it was just bouncing up and down on the branch, with a couple of other gulls flying overhead. I got this pic and then it flew away...I guess the trampoline got boring?

MJ, Your gull is sitting in one of those white berry trees.  The gulls love them and actually get high/drunk on them.  So, I am sure that is why your gull was doing the "goofy-foot" dance in the tree.  I have witnessed gulls flutering/falling out of the sky after over indulging on those berries.

Here is another pic of the beauty and joy of the dump.  It also shows the strange weather you commented about yesterday.

That is such great new info, Hillman!!! Now their behaviour makes perfect sense and it's funny too; thank you!
Also, white berry tree sounds so much nicer than what I call them...I'll try to use it in public.
And it makes this shot have some bit of sense to it. It was so strange, I didn't use it because...if you look closely, you can see the gull rocking back on his legs with his head down for rocking power - he had the branch hoppin'! With your explanation...hell, he's WAS rockin' out! Been there, done that.

I think I'm seeing the birth of a new Island Woman Multi-Purpose Hot Sauce recipe. "Hot and High".  Save me some.

yes, but if she used gull juice after they had been doing shots, she'd get a great combo of gull and whiteberry juices:P

Something about these ideas makes me feel slightly nauseous. Or more.

Well...me too, kinda.  I'm not sure exactly what gull juice is.  I keep getting SNL visions of the frog in a blender.

Nice shot Hillman. Are you building something? I remember you telling me one time that you were on your way to (or from) the dump looking for "parts".
