My friend and I are planning to rent a car in San Juan, drive to Fajardo and take the passenger ferry to Culebra for a two-day stay. We've been told that we can park the car in a gated lot in Fajardo. Does anyone have any information or comments about our plan?

We've done that, and it worked quite well. Three years ago, the overnight fee was $5. Might be a little more now. Best of luck!

Thrifty lets you rent in San Juan and drop the car off in Fajardo (Puerto del Rey Marina).  They will then shuttle you to the ferry dock or airport so you don't have to pay rental fees while you are in Culebra.  If you need a car on the way back, they will pick you up at the ferry dock or airport and take you to get your car.

Just a thought. Have a great trip!
