Two people called me and remembered the
solar cooker and got a big kick out of retelling
the tale. According to one, the solar oven worked
but took a day and a half, the other said it was
twice as long.
In case you missed them, Greg used to have
great house parties big and small, and of course
the conversation was on the latest gadget and
his latest gadget magazines, all things sailing,
solar, and wind. Greg donated an old boat oven
(stove-top tin-type) for our mountain cabin,
How'd my veracity check do? Maybe I'm thinking
of a different Greg, seems like the same house,
or was that Gay Lee?

M.J.
Have you asked Greg yet? I'm dying to know.

I keep forgetting to ask Greg, but maybe this will be a reminder to kick start my brain the next time I see him. The whole house party thing is enough to make me remember to ask him...can't imagine that! But the gadget mags of his are something I know all too well
I'll let you know...and if it's true, I'll start digging for the solar oven...

Ah! Those house parties! Oh yes indeed at one
time Greg's was the center for all things
uncommon. Fast Eddie would arrive from
the high seas and a convocation was ordered
on the spot.Big Thanksgiving community
parties, the best.
The back bedroom was rented out to,
hmm let me see, maybe I better not go there!
The point being we all have a lot of history
with Greg. He is one of the stalwarts of
our community, always there, always caring.
Do you remember the time he beat up _ _ _ _
for taking his bicycle and then found out
he didn't. Or the time he got caaried
way with his garden hose?
Oh I can almost see the belly laughs from
admin as she reads this post.
Interpersonal inter-caring Culebra, the best!

luckily admin is laughing too hard to comment or add to the stories. all I will say is as far as I remember, I never rented the back bedroom.

Yep, Greg has a solar oven! I asked why he'd never told me that (he tells me everything ELSE! just kidding, sort of) and he said he thought I knew already. It's tough being a little sharecropper goddess who is supposed to know all.
He needs to *fix* it so...I won't be looking for it and am back to planning on getting my own. I asked about the parties and he told me about Thanksgiving parties and a few others...and yes, this was long before I was around, a very different time.
So I was wrong! Thank goodness THAT is out of the way for the year . It's kind of fun being wrong on this one, and frustrating too...I really can't imagine those times; another one of those *wish I'd been smart enough to move here a long time ago* moments. Except for the fact that I was having a hell of a good time then too!

those truely were days and nights full of magic and innocence......and dear friends and mucho laughter and fond memories -- you so would have loved it all, but I think in some weird way, you were part of it all......just not in a physical sense.....
maybe admin will get lucky and be able to put her hands on some Thanksgiving party pictures......
give that Greg a kick for me--- what's he doing with a hidden solar oven. He should be using it. then if he's not too dirty, give him a hug.
