I was waiting to post this until I could insert some pictures, but that could take too long, so here it is.
The 11 of us were in Culebra from March 23-29th. My husband and I (our 4th trip) also brought for the 1st time our kids (ages 6 & 10), my parents, and another family with 3 kids (ages 10, 7 & 5).
Our family and my parents arrived Friday afternoon and took Air Flamenco over to Culebra. We had a charter at 2:30 that actually left around 3:30, but it was a good flight and everyone enjoyed the scenery. Well, except our 6 year old son, who fell asleep!! I wouldn't have thought that was possible. We picked up our rentals from Carlos Jeep at the airport and then we were off to Bahia Marina. Our friends arrived the next morning, got their rental from Jerry's and met us up at Bahia. We all unwound at the pool with some cool drinks (Thank You Jose!!) and talked about lost luggage! If there is anywhere that people won't care if you wear the same clothes a couple days in a row, it is Culebra!!
We had a great week going to Zoni, Flamenco and hanging out at the pool. For lunch, we either ate by the pool or at Dinghy Dock, Mamacita's or got sandwiches from El Eden. All were good, but the El Eden sandwiches were the favorite!! Dinners were:
Dakity at Bahia Marina: Very good food, pricey. Excellent calabasa(?) soup and calamari. Great service from Carlos and Kevin.
Shipwreck Grill at Bahia Marina: Good burgers, wraps, salads. Beautiful view. Great service from Wilma and Natalie.
Mamacita's: Good, dependable food. Great service, good view. Calamari was the only disappointment.
Juanita Banana's: Great food! It is pricey and the service is leisurely (our dinner was 3 hours, which included appetizers and dessert for 11), but the fish tank and the resident animals helped the kids pass the time. The salmon pops and panko crusted grouper were excellent.
Susie's (Guarida del Zorro?): Finally got here on our last night and we are so glad we did! Susie's food is excellent! Simple surroundings, no view, but a pool table to pass the time and the food is worth the wait. Those that got the Mahi-Mahi in curry cream sauce were raving! Garlic shrimp (with EXTRA garlic) on pasta was incredible also. Prices are very reasonable.
We were lucky to listen to Amy Jo at Bahia Marina one night. She has an amazing voice and is so fun to hear. We had some rain, which gave the shoppers in the group time to check out all the stores in town. On our last day we went out to Culebrita, which was just beautiful.
Our week went WAY too fast. We were so sad to leave, but we had another day in Old San Juan. While there, we walked around, shopped, and visited El Morro. It is definitely a must-see place! While it was tough to adjust to the hustle and bustle of OSJ after being on Culebra, we were so glad we spent some time there. El Morro was truly awe-inspiring, we look forward to visiting it again soon. The architecture and vibe of OSJ is really fun and interesting. It was a nice transition back to the real world!
I will try to post some pictures soon to go along with this trip report!

great trip report!!! Thanks for sharing.....
but please, to provide proof, because I'm having a really hard time imagining it, could you either post a picture or be more specific when you say you got good service from Kevin? Carlos I can understand. But are we talking the tall semi-bald skinny guy? Kevin? Good Service?? Jose musta slipped him something.

I KNEW we should've gotten proof!! We were shocked, too !! I know it wasn't the kids that were having that effect on him !!! It must've been my parents ??? It was actually kinda creepy seeing Kevin be that nice, even when one of the kids knocked over their Shirley Temple!! Maybe there was a wrinkle in time?

I know I'm not the most credible source, but Kevin was (don't faint) very nice and in a good mood the night we went there in March. Maybe Jose has whipped him in to shape?
Oh, and nice report, Sue!Last edited on Tue Apr 24th, 2007 11:04 pm by Diving Debbie

There have been more than a few reports of Kevin being nice, and I've commented on it to him - he just smiles. Frankly, I think it is because he's getting old and senile, forgetting to snarl. It's so sad. Pretty soon we'll just be patting him gently on the head and making sure there are plenty of Depends nearby. If you notice him sitting next to Cruz on the wall, hollering for Judy to bring him a cigarette - well, it's over.
Sue, loved the report, and great to see the you and the crew. The seeds are plants now, and the children are excited! I'll post some more pics soon (when I know the camera isn't going to get wet!)

You better be sitting down then, because it was DEFINITELY not the same night! Two confirmed reports. Maybe Jim should cover this for the Culebra Calendar!
Laurie, I don't think I will ever be able to thank you enough for posting that picture !! He's told stories of his Seabourne days, but we never pictured him with the long hair. And MJ, your input on his mysterious change was truly worthy of Kevin himself!! (P.S. So glad the seed are growing up and the kids are enjoying the experience! Thanks for the update---what are the favorites so far? Probably the fastest growing ones, huh?)
Let me know if we need to start raising funds for Kevin's Depends.
