8pm - local ABC affiliate is hosting a panel of experts on the 100-Year Drought going on here in Georgia.
http://www.wsbtv.com/news/14380265/detail.html

9pm - think I'll tune into CNN's Planet in Peril.
http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2007/planet.in.peril/issues.html

Maybe at 10pm - if I'm not too depressed by then - I'll tune into ABC's 20/20 special entitled "California Burning".

I almost wish I were on Culebra with no TV and my head in the sand. I wonder if I'll be able to sleep tonight.

Actually, I wonder how our leaders are able to sleep at night?

I didn't see your post (computer is SLOOOWWWW at the housesit gig) but planned on watching this anyway. Ok, I confess...I had to change the channel finally. There is a lot of bad news in the world right now - literally - right now, with California burning up (and a billion and some bucks missing in Iraq, govt. supported *independant* consultants facing thirty million dollar tax evasion charges and and and...).
There was an interesting interview with a guy who is a fire ecology expert who, briefly, says that the mega-fires are due to later and later rains, so that what would normally be vegetation heavy with moisture and resist what might be a *normal* fire are now so dry that the fires are bigger and bigger...as we are seeing today. He has trees (slabs) over 1000 years old, showing climate flucuations in the rings.

Nah, global warming is just a myth made up by tree huggers...we'll show them, by golly, when there aren't any trees left to hug.

Watched NOVA - Saved By the Sun.  Pretty cool stuff. Germany is eons ahead of the US in solar power.

Then they reported that Dubya had cancelled his scheduled fundraiser to our fair city... YAY!

But was sending Cheney in his place...BOO, HISS!

Don't. Get. Me. Started.  This is supposed to be a fun vacation board.

oh, you mention Admin's two favorite people. It's no wonder that our country is in shambles, the world is going up in flames, and hundreds are dying in a winless war each day. Don't. Get. ME. Started.:X

Speaking of which, I'm off to Boston on Saturday to partake in a large peace march and rally as part of a national event (marches are planned in 10 cities) http://oct27.org/ I'll be traveling down to Boston on a Peace Train from Portland, Maine to Boston with hundreds of Maine marchers and none other than Susie Higgins, from Vieques, and we are hoping to hook up with Banana Hannah of Culebra and Fango fame who will be there as a photographer.

Susie was literally arrested about 4 years ago hugging a tree about to be demolished by a bulldozer. It really can happen!

Cheney blew it off, too, so we get a raincheck on Dubya.  We have nice little enclave of starboard-leaners about a mile from my house, where he'll undoubtedly hang out and pose for pictures with check-writers.  Brutal on the traffic.  I'll have to head to my nearest free-speech zone for some participatory democracy. NOT.
