Wow...Wavy Gravy! That certainly was a catalyst for a brief avalanche down Memory Mountain!
This is from the Wavy Gravy website...he's still going strong at 70 and doing wonderful things.
wow that pic of Wavy got me thinking. I returned from Vietnam
approx June/July 1969, Woodstock was a few months later and
I was getting an "early out" to finish college. I was waking up, it
was hard not to. The killing of 4 students ar Kent who were
protesting the bombing of Cambodia got everyone galvanized.
A short time after CSN&Y came out with "Ohio" It was great but
by late fall we got what fit us to a T "Question" by the Moody
Blues. Ohio was OK, one line "Gotta get down to it" was OK;
But Question, angry attack, pounding at the door, hate and death
and war, the world burning in it's greed. YES someone got it
right. Masterful, and from a group that had released Days of
Future Passed (Tuesday Afternoon, Nights in White Satin) in 1969
They had stepped up to the plate; just like the Rascals did with
People Gotta be Free (orig. civil rights adopted to the war later)
Here's some You Tube links if you missed one of them or just
want to reminisce.
