So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good night
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu
Adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu
So long, farewell, au revoir, auf wiedersehen
I'd like to stay and taste my first champagne
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye
I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye -- Goodbye!
I'm glad to go, I cannot tell a lie
I flit, I float, I fleetly flee, I fly
The sun has gone to bed and so must I
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Have a safe trip back. . .

or the alternative version:
I'm sad to go, I cannot tell a lie
I'll shovel snow instead of bask in sun and sky
The sun will come in Spring, and I will cry
With joooyyyyyyyyyy!
Farewell.

I am sitting here in Maine. 28 degrees. That's farenheit folks, not celsius. While we will be happy to see the admin back in our fair state, we feel her pain. Maine is a lovely place to be. You don't live in Maine unless you like (tolerate?) winter. But by around the 1st of February, Culebra beckons. Safe travels ... we'll leave the light on.

You are probably home, or close to it already, but I hope you had safe travels. Welcome back to the North. I think we might be sending you an ice storm in a day or two!

thanks all -- and I miss all of you in Culebra dearly! And Sue, you're not even funny and you have just been placed on the "S" list --- it's snowing here as I type........and then it's supposed to change over to freezing rain and blow up to 50 mph.
I've been spending the day cleaning (one free tip -- blind housesitters take wonderful care of the kids, which is the important part, but make lousy housecleaners).....and planting the cactus babies I smuggled back in to the states (I can hear Teresa screaming now ), and processing more Culebra pictures. Oh yeah, and making split pea soup.
tonight will be hot chocolate and the fireplace and if the Island Woman chicka posts about it being cold tonight, I will send Johanna to sit with her for two days straight at the cart.
I did hear my Barred owls last night, and I enjoyed that.....
When I got to Logan yesterday, the entire airport was decorated for the New England Patriots, just 2 days away from being Superbowl champions......and the whole way home, almost every billboard was cheering them on......while I'll miss pacing and screaming at Mamacita's with Steve and Steve, it's going to be fun watching them here.....

How were all the animals? Happy to see you? or pi$$ed off that you left them alone for SOOOOO long?
And Frank - good to see you over here on the dark side. Soon, you will know more about what's going on on-island than John and Barbara do. If you talk to them (duh!), tell them we won't be back in March as we told them. We're going to wait until after Easter since it's so early this year.
For those of you that don't know Frank, I offer you this very deserved tidbit. And, no, he's not the one with the glasses. . .Attachment: 037_New_Years_Eve.jpg (Downloaded 77 times)

LOL Debbie ... the dark side might be suffering from a case of mistaken identity!
Although that IS John in the glasses (striking a to-be-expected pose), I am NOT in the photo! Oh well, others will have to wait for the "unveiling". But when it happens, I want to be standing next to my Browns friend Mike M!
8 days and counting ...
ps -- Admin was greeted VERY rudely by the weather in Maine ... heavy winds, sleet, freezing rain. Reminds me of one of favorite things to say while on Culebra ... usually while driving up to the trail to Resaca: "Man, this hill must be a bitch when it snows"

Admin was NOT a happy camper last night --- and Frank, the reason Debbie called this topic a Vacation in Maine, is when she and her honey were leaving Culebra in Jaunary, and were bumming, I told them that when I left Culebra I always said that I was going on vacation to Maine or New Jersey or whereever the winds were blowing me next to soften the blow.
and the worst of the weather bit last night was today is supposed to be shorts and t-shirts warm (for you Culebra folk, thats anything over 40 degrees here in Maine), so the photography options aren't there. I was hoping for some sun glistening on the ice shots, but instead I have no sun, and grey gross snow. and can you say COLD???
A friend was supposed to go skiing at Sunday River this weekend, but he heard last night even inland was getting rain and ice......stinky.......
I just hope it snows when the Culebra Ski Team arrives the end of March!!!

Glad you made it back home safe and sound Admin! And thanks for putting me on your list---I have always wanted to be on SOMEone's !! That IS the Super List, right???
Hey Frank! It's great to see another Brownies fan on here, to go along with Mike M. and I---we need all the support we can get! Are you in the area or are you a displaced fan like Mike??

Frank had best be cheering the Patriots on.....or he's in the wrong part of the country.

I am not a Browns fan or a Patriots fan ... though I was rooting for the Patriots tonight because my kids love the Patriots. Oh well ... my friends Barbara and John from Villa Viollette in Culebra are huge Giants fans ... so good for them!

So has my 15 year old son ... he is REALLY upset. I suggest we ask Mike McCarty for some advice on how to handle losing ... rooting for all those Cleveland teams he certainly must have some coping mechanisms! Just kidding Mike! You guys won a football championship back about 50 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ps -- also looking forward to my Red Sox - Indians winning dinner at Heathers next week!

The game is over, a lot of fun was had. Neil outdid himself, yet again. Dinghy Dock was home port, after drifting around and enjoying the other spots.
I'll be posting more on this later but:
This morning, bartender Steve hurt himself badly in a serious accident. He was working with a friend and a grinder saw (I don't really understand exactly what it was, my ignorance) jumped off the table when turned on and hit him on the foot, severing tendons. He is or was still waiting in the hall at Centro Medico in San Juan earlier this evening for treament, down on the priorty list. We are collecting funds for him, as he is the current income producer in his family; Zulema and Kai, his brand new son. Zulema hasn't worked since Kai was born 3 months ago and he doesn't have insurance that will take care of all of them. This is obviously going to be a drawn out situation and it is time for our crazy family to come together to support them.
If you want to contribute, please send funds to Dinghy Dock, care of Neil and made out for Steve. I'll have more details if needed, you can email me at mjstark@coqui.net and I'll let anyone know how to direct any contributions.
So...it was a very happy night of joy and a very hard night knowing Steve is in pain and Zulema and Kai are here (they are going over tomorrow...her mother is with Steve, as is Lewis). Open your hearts and open your wallets.
Another night in Paradox.

How horrible!!!!! my prayers go out to Steve.....and I hope by now he's been treated. I pray that there is no permanent damage! I'm sure glad I never had to be treated in Centro Medico......all I've ever heard and seen with my own eyes are horror stories......
