| My husband and I would like to go to Culebra. We heard how difficult it can be to get on the ferry to Culebra (usually sold out). What is the best way to arrange for a trip to Culebra for Fri-Sat? Do we arrange this through our hotel in San Juan? Can any suggest any hotels we should use in Culebra on Fri and Sat night? Would also appreciate any suggestions as to what beaches or sites we should visit. Is Culebrita worth going to? We are excited and look forward to any suggestions. Thank you.

When are you planning on coming here? That makes a big difference! As to where to stay, you have a lot of options, again depending on when you come down.
More info?

I would second Island Woman's input......the ferry does sell out, but usually just on busy days or weekends. But several ferrys run during the day.....so it does come down to what time of the year you plan on visiting.
As for hotels options on Culebra, there are several great options......from camping, to very basic room and shared bath to small guesthouses to several small hotel options including a couple very close to beaches. There really isn't a "bad" place to stay on Culebra.....it's up to your individual preferences....
let us know a little bit more information, and we'll try and give more helpful answers.

| Island Woman MJ - thanks for the reply! We would like to go to Culebra June 13 and leave on June 15. Is that a quiet time? (I hope).

Thank you for your reply.
We prefer to have our own bathroom. A hotel would be great or even a bed and breakfast (is there such a thing in Culebra?). The closer to the beach, the better.
How is Culebrita? I assume it's a one day adventure (as opposed to sleeping overnight there).

June is a quiet time...you shouldn't have any trouble with ferries, or rooms. There are a lot of great places. One of my favorites is Villa Fulladoza. It is on the water, very reasonably priced, clean, more like an apt. than a regular room. Plus, it's right on the edge of town, so walking to explore around is easy, and pretty easy to find a publico to the beach.
Yep, Culebrita is a one day trip...it's a protected habitat so no overnights. Well worth checking out if you have time.
oops, edited to say, VF is on the bay, not the beach. There are some beach options. I always get the names mixed up...I'll check it out but if anyone else knows the names of those two places, toss 'em on the pile!

I highly recommend Villa Flamenco Beach -- which is right on Flamenco Beach, and privately owned (there are "time-share" condos next door which get mixed reviews.

Villa Fulladoza, which Island Woman recommends is also a great spot.
Both places are usually booked at least a year in advance for the busier times, but in the beginning of June, you might get lucky and find space at one of these.
Villa Boheme is also a nice place right on the water (right on the bay as well).
Enjoy planning!!
