I am planning a two-night stay on Culebra (May 20-22) and looking at staying at Culebra Beach Villas.  I have read mixed reviews and heard that the units are individually owned.  There will just be two of us, so can someone recommend a good unit to stay in for two?  It just seem too amazing of a deal to be right on Flamenco Beach to pass up.  How hard is it to get a taxi to town for dinner from this hotel?  Thanks for the help!

Culebra Beach Villas are all individually owned.

I highly recommend Villa Flamenco Beach, a beautiful facility also situated right on Flamenco.  Their website is http://www.culebra-island.com/CulebraIsland/Places_to_Stay/Villa_Flamenco_Beach/villa_flamenco_beach.htm

this is a small privately owned facility that gets many repeat customers, and is often booked far in advance.  It is located right next to the Culebra Beach Villas.

Another option for you to consider is Tamarindo Estates.  This is a facility on Tamarindo Beach, and is more isolated, and therefore romantic and quiet than Flamenco Beach.  Their website and info is http://www.tamarindoestates.com/

All the above facilities are serviced by taxi's, although if you are going into town for dinner, you will want to arrange with your driver for a specific pickup time......the taxis generally don't run at night.

Another option would be to rent bikes......or a scooter or car.  There is a lot of Culebra to see and the taxis really only are downtown and Flamenco and occassionally Zoni beach.....

Hope this helps!

I just noticed your user name of Texas Girl.  I'm just guessing you might like hot sauce, and if so this is a shameless plug-- be sure to check out Island Woman's cart at the bridge in downtown -- she sells some great hot sauce, but she also makes her own in three flavors and heat levels, and as a hot sauce lover (to say the least), I can say it's some of the best sauce I've ever had -- she makes it in small homemade batches using the freshest of ingredients......they make wonderful inexpensive gifts for the folk back home!:)

I will jump on the bandwagon about Island Woman's homemade hot sauces!  I am sitting here eating beans and rice with one of her sauces right now!!  It is so yummy!  You MUST try them!

Thanks!! I'm so excited...the mango tree I planted almost 6 years ago is BLOOMING!!!! While all the mangos I use are local, won't it be  cool if they are local from my tree????

And...I've stayed at Culebra Beach Villas before when some friends stayed there...one of the ones in the back. It was great. ANY place near the beach will hopefully be great. Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestion of Villa Flamenco Beach.  I had looked at their website before.  The only catch is it says there is a minimum one week stay for May, and we will only be there two nights.  So I had ruled it out.  I thought it would be nice to be right there at Flamenco Beach, since it will be a short stay.  I am open to any other suggestions you have though.  Have you heard anything good or bad about the Culebra Beach Villas?
