Just curious...we stay very very close to where the new school is located.  Last time we were on the island the lot was empty and the only thing it housed were goats. Obviously a very nice quiet barrio. What should we expect in terms of "noise" Don't get me wrong I love kids..but since I will have a week off from my own sixth graders was hoping to sleep in and enjoy the quiet of the island. What time does school begin in the morning.

Thanks,

Tricia

Near the school, you're going to have the general noise of the barrio - chickens, dogs, traffic. I'm surprised you think that's a quiet barrio. We just got back, but school was not in session, so I can't help! We did hear bells ringing for school as early as 7:30. How close to the school are you staying and in what direction? Up the hill, or on the main road -- you know, how sound travels and everything. If you're on the water, the lapping of the waves might take over the other noise, but I'm not sure. We're usually up the hill.

HI,

Directly across the street from the new school. I have learned to sleep thru the roosters etc.

It really was not a noisy neighborhood. We sat in the garden out back and it was pleasant..not super quiet like it would be if you were out in Zoni or somewhere like that.

Just concerned about sleeping in as our bedroom will be across from the school.

Thanks,

Hi Tricia. i hate to break it to you, but if you're arriving soon, ear plugs would be a fine accessory. They are digging up roads behind the school, towards the back of that road, and they work 12 and 13 hours a day. Using 5 or 6 big noisy trucks. Maybe they're working so long to get it done before you get here.

Facing the school? Are you on the bayside of Escudero
(main road to flamenco/pueblo) or are you on the side-
streeets at Edward Estrella's or Bob and Joann Smith's?

You are directly downwind of the school. So far,
I haven't heard a sound from the new school.
BarbaraRosa's is just down a couple of houses,
we hear nothing, I can't imagine you would hear
much more at the Smiths, maybe a little before and
after. The new school has an interior courtyard
which really helps.
