:D The spot is finaly open!! with a similar menu as cafe Isola. Great salads, burgers & sandwiches. It's vintage Federico and Alicia. The locale although small has been smartly decorated with sleek lines and light colors, they have also placed tables outside. They open monday through  fridayfrom 11:30 to 5:00 .A must do if you are in culebra!

Suzie - from the moment I met her I liked her. She set out to be part
of this community and had her ups and downs. Now she runs a really
popular place, La Guerida del Zorro (Fox) or in English the Fox's Lair.
Thats were me and Bubba go for a gret meal and to get away from the
downtown noise. These are the kind of places (The Spot and Foxes
and El Caoba/Marcos) that make Culebra so unique and special to our
tourists and best of all a great place to live!
In the spirit of great restaurants of the past here's one to warm your
heart. It was called Las Delicious, but we called it Justo & Annie's.

Snooping around on Palmetto Guesthouse's website, I noted the a few restaurants, where I've not dined, as yet. The Spot is discussed here (nee Cafe Isola?) Where is it?  Also what can anyone tell me about the food, location, etc., about these places...La Casita and La Pista?

The Spot is where Gretchen's party was. It's next door to Heather's Pizza, open during the week only from I think 11 - 3, great food as ever from Alicia, with Fedy right where he belongs...behind the bar (or dancing on the sidewalk).

Next door toward the bay, then?  Ever heard of the other 2 places?

Yep...toward the bay. La Pista is the place not quite across the street from the airport; local, great food! (I didn't read Susie's entry until just now, oopsy on me! So the time is probably more what she says). I don't know La Casita...there is also a place next to (back off the street) the PO that serves local food for lunch, I'm not sure of the hours...or the exact spelling of the name either! All I know is the food smells great...I've been too late for it though, food goes fast there, so check it out early.
I've put in an email to Terri about La Casita, but if someone else knows, post it please! Culebra is bigger than it appears in your rearview mirror....

Hey MJ, how goes the re-furbishment of Susie's new place?  Any chance she will be open, say, in the next week???  Would LOVE to have some more of her awesome food!

Ironically, my earlier New Years "guys trips" were booked at a cottage called La Casita, next door to Sra. Feliciano's house across the bridge from the cart.  We loved that place, but alas, the owners aren't renting it anymore. I doubt they converted it to a restaurant, tho'.  It'd be poorly set up for that.

I'd say...no chance she'll be open next week (unless the shoemaker's fairies show up)! I was just there today and there is a lot to do...she is shooting for the 1st of December; hopefully that won't be in Culebra time...she is excited and ready to start cooking! It's going to be fantastic.

I can't wait to see Susie's and the Spot!!!!  Very cool, and very exciting!!

And in Jim's list, he graciously forgets to mention Barbara Rosa's, but then again, I guess he and Bubba get tired of the food quickly.:)

Update on La Casita - there IS no La Casita restaurant, it was a glitch. So if you want to open a restaurant called La Casita...the name is available.

There IS a La Casita Blanca over near San Juan that has been in business a long long time and sells great hot sauce...if you don't want to open a place yourself, I'd check it out on one of those "I'm hanging out in SJ before I get where I'm going" times.

The reviews alone will make you hungry!

There was a place called The Little White House Bar that sponsored a softball team in our men's AA league back in the day.  They were a very good run-and-gun team, but our power hitters prevailed every year but one.  Little White House (La Casita Blanca) was a block from the old St. Louis Arena, where the Blues played.  I used to park in their lot for free and have a couple beers and a rodent-burger before the games. The name's the same, but not the kweezeen.

Hi Doug,

Our chief "editor" made an error on the Palmetto website re: "La Casita" & it has since been removed. However, La Pista is just down the road across from the airport & does b-fast.

Enjoy & again, apologies!

No biggie! I just wanted to catch up on the changes, and was going to be amazed if they had converted that little hideaway cottage into an eatery.

I think I've seen La Pista.  They have a sign that says Pollo?
