Can Barbara Rosa's accommodate large parties now? Say 7-9 people on a Thursday night? Should I provide advance notice?
Open every day?
Still works the same way - bring your waiter, bring your wine, order at the window? Good thing I didn't think up the rhyme. . .
How's the wait time? I'll have one cranky diabetic that will have been traveling all day. . .
Thanks!

According to a close source, BarbaraRosa's normally can handle
6. Over six is not a problem if you can relax with some wine.
Bring some snacks for the diabetic in case they don't get the
appetisers out quickly. Over 8 gets really sticky on busy nights.
This is basically a one-woman show, amazing she can crank
40-60 solo if they don't come in all at once.

Thank you, Mr. BR! With any luck, one set of in-laws will want to go elsewhere - closer to their accomodations.

It was such a pleasure to eat at their restaurant back in May. She is one amazing woman!

I have a silly question about this restaurant. Is it the same as Juanita Bananas or is that a different restaurant??? Someone please answer before I go nuts with this in my head.

OK so I have dined in Barbara Rosa's and not in Juanita Banana's. Can someone tell me more about JB?

Both restruants are wonderful, and some of the best food on the island, but are completely different in atmosphere and menu.
Juanita Bananas is a must while you're visiting -- when I'm away, I dream of Jenny's cooking.....it's soooooo good -- you'll need to make reservations, and I'd suggest doing it before your arrival -- they get booked early and fast.
I grew up as little girl hanging out in Jenny's (the chef) mother's kitchen, and I can tell you that it is definately a family affair.....and one that you will love every minute of.....
They have two seatings -- I suggest the earlier of the two because I love have some items from their tapas menu on the deck enjoying the sunset. Monday is sushi night.
And don't miss Barbara's cooking at Barbara Rosa's either -- she's been a favorite of mine for many, many years as well, and her husband is the publisher of our great newspaper the Culebra Calendar (soon to be online at http://www.culebracalendaronline.com so it's a good spot to get the local news. Great for a casual, inexpensive lunch or dinner!

Kayra,
Barbara Rosa's is in town near Carlos Jeep Rental - same side of the street a few doors down as you're heading away from the airport. It used to be in a similar location, but on the water side of the street.
Juanita Bananas is at Harbor View Villas out by Melones, and as Laurie said, is a must do. I like the early seating because there's a nice sunset view from there.

Thanks so much for the info!
Chad (my fiancee) and I ate many times in Barbara Rosa's last time we were there in May and I have to say that Jim and Barbara are the most wonderful people to sit down and talk to. And her cooking is great too.
I am starting to get a flashback of one trip to Culebra back in August 2004 in which we ate at a place in Melones that had a Luao. We ate wonderful "hawaiian" food with a caribbean touch, but I cannot remember the name of the restaurant. It was going up a hill on the same road that leads to flamenco.

Kayra,
Cherish your flashbacks...they're a little serendipitous gift!
