Is it crazy? We're thinking about taking a shorter-than-usual weekend hop (Fri - Tues). Do it or not?

Uh...what date is that weekend? You know how I can be about time tracking...but of course, regardless, I'd say...c'mon down!

Easter, restaurant wise, isn't all that overcrowded. College kids
go to the beach. Maybe a little overflo at El Batey in the evening,
but with the recent parking fiasco and the "other" incident several
weeks ago, I would guess not too bad.

oops, I just noticed you said Memorial Day. All the Puerto Rican
"Navy" will be here. Jet skis and booze parties, Good Luck!

Yeah, I don't care about the Puerto Rican Navy. What bothers me is when the town is overrun and the Happy Landings parties go on all night ('cause the sound carries right up our hill). We'll probably do it. . .

I used to do that often when I worked -- Newark to San Juan, come down Thursday evening and return Sunday evening....   I was younger then, too.

Ah, yes my younger years, I could have tolerated things a little
better. The beauty of Culebra is, with rare exception, you can find a quiet
place almost any day. It is one of the reasons why we fight for public
access to all beaches, yet we do not want to put many of them on
"tourist" maps. They need to be remote, something you can retreat
to, or accidently discover.

There is an upside to drunk college kids on the beach...at least I thought so when I was one. Heh.  They'll all want to be at the place to "see and be seen", Flamenco.  That leaves nine or ten others for those sexy senior citizens among us. Wooooooo!

I don't feel sorry for you. We're looking at lows in the 30s this weekend, and highs in the 60's. Ouch! Hee Hee - now I'm probably a double brat.

Laurie, you are just a regular Chamber of Commerce advert for Maine! I think Sean has been telling me a bunch of lies about how beautiful it is (nah, I was there, it is beautiful). I know, I know, it's all about timing - and I was giving the marine store guys in Rockport LOTS of laughs when that October I was piling on a wool hat, long underwear, two pairs of socks, foul weather jacket, heavy jeans..."Lady, it's only Octobah, we wear scharts in Octobah..."

shoot....they wear shorts year round here.....(Sean can verify all this)

Maine does have it's beautiful times -- March thru May are not one of them -- snow, ice, then more mud than you can imagine, then the black flys --- these little innocent looking gnat things that literally bite and make you pour blood and welt up for three weeks.....

:))
