Ironically, I just helped organize a Substainable Energy/Living Fair last weekend, and this was the subject of one of our workshops.....and my town's Recycling Center (which recycles about 80% of our trash and burns almost all the rest, and is ranked one of the best in the state) is going to look into it....finally, a way to export something that less fortunate nations can use....
If your recycling center doesn't handle paint yet, the drying with sand really does work......I've also mixed cans and come up with some pretty cool colors (and unlike paint from Joe's, it actually has a tint to it) For those of you that don't remember, it used to be on Culebra, there were two colors of paint available -- pepto bismal pink and aqua (you still see some buildings using these colors). Finally, Joe got in a paint mixing machine, and we had options -- how exciting!! Except you never wanted Joe to mix the paint -- only Diane, because if you got color from Joe, it was never right, and there is at least one confirmed case of his forgetting to put the tint in all together!!!
