Was wondering if anyone has rented one of the electric cars from Carlos Jeep rental? I was thinking about renting one for my upcoming trip and was wondering about its performance and range. I was also thinking of a scooter as well.  Any suggestions? How about parking in town? street side? where ever you can fit?  Rented a bike last time but the hills from Flamenco were kicken chicken after all day at the beach..

Thanks, Gringo

Well, I can't answer all of your questions, but I CAN tell you that Carlos told me he would love to only have electric vehichles and he loves driving the ones he has. I wish he WOULD do that...get rid of the fake hummers! Well, back to reality...as to parking, it all depends on when you are here. Just remember, you can park on either side of the road, but not anyplace with a yellow line, or soemtimes not anyplace with what seems like a safe parking space. Oh, does that sound confusing? Yep...it is. Best bet is, don't be the last person parking someplace, don't park on a corner, don't park on the street across from Pandeli. In other words...if you have a bit of doubt about parking someplace, ask someone local  if they think it's ok or don't park there ;) Truthfully...it's easy to park someplace safe and walk the whole town while shopping. That's the best way to go, rather than drive to each place (seconds or minutes apart).

Those electric cars are cool.  Has anyone taken one out to Zoni?  Or, more to the point, has anyone driven one back up the hill out of the parking area there?  I'll ask my friends who rented onea year or so ago.

Thanks for the help. Last time I walked everywhere in town and it worked out great. ...so I will probably do as you said ....find a spot to park and walk to where I want to go.

I talked to my friends, and they weren't sure if Carlos still rents the electric cars.  MJ, do you know for sure?   Also, when carrying passengers, they struggle with hills.  They suggested renting a Thing from Dick and Cathy.

I'm pretty sure he is still renting them. I never like to say *I'm positive* about anything here, even myself - or maybe especially myself! I'd just call them.
I think they are pretty cool myself. How many people did your friends have in them? Personally, I think ALL the rental cars should be electric, or have none at all...but that's just me. Hey, it works in Bermuda!

As I recall, they had 2 adults and a couple or three young teens (Coralations volunteers).  The unit was kind of a pickup truck configuration, 2 seats and a cargo bed, where the kids sat.  I agree on electric, but the hills dictate a low gear arrangement for the trip to/from Zoni.

Carlos stopped renting them (too many problems on the hills), but I believe he still has them, and may be willing to "unofficially" rent one. A Thing is the next best thing (pun intended).....a great fun way to see the island. And MJ is right -- walking around downtown is the only way to go....that way you will be sure to see all the wonderful nooks and crannies.....

No dear, it was Books and Aunties - it is well known that English muffins are a fictional formally forked flour concoction found only in books read to you by Aunties.
Or maybe it was Sticks and Stonies...I can't ever remember. All I do know is...don't stick a fork in the toaster for retrieval (of crook or nanny, muffin, auntie, stick or stonie, no matter how deserving of crisping they may be - and we know some who are)

From some blogs on the subject:

"you split them in half, using a fork or your fingers. You never ever
CUT an English Muffin with a knife, as it removes all the good "nooks and
crannies" that way
."

" I was talking to my wife in the shower this morning (hey, we're in a water conservation rule here in Florida, We're only trying to protect your children's future) and had the following conversation.
Tom: Did you know that if you change up nooks and crannies you get crooks and nannies?
Erin: What in the world got you to think about that?
Tom: I don't know.  I was thinking about nooks and crannies for some reason and realized you could change he words...  I wonder if that's where the English muffin people came up with the name.
Erin: Ha, why in the world would the Thomas' English Muffin people start with crooks and nannies?
Tom: It makes sense with those marketing people.  I'd bet they were all crooks and had nannies watch their children.  It's only a natural progression I guess.  I mean, who knows what those marketing people think.  They don't exactly have their heads screwed on right.
Erin: I don't think it's the marketing people who don't have their heads screwed on tight." (yes, I found your crooks and nannies, I AM the big - er...older...ohyouknow...sister!)

Sometimes...you just have to go with it...um...what were we talking about?
