This morning dawned windy and cold (at least it felt cold to me) and cloudy, with streaks of blue around and in between the grey. Then an, at first, fairly heavy, and soon just misty rain moved in over the bay, covering the hills like thick fog, that is almost gone now, leaving behind even cooler air.

It was enough to close up the cart and do what I'd wanted to do since waking up...have a good coffee drink and come back home for long sleeved clothes...and maybe socks.

Days (rather than moments) like this are rare...one of those days to curl up with a book or a movie and enjoy something different. Cook some soup or comfort food; try not to spill.

Sooner than we think, just the sight of a long sleeved shirt will be enough to make us sweat. In the meantime...I'm glad I still own a few!

Bayberry and you need to get a life.  Or, better yet, take a vacation and come visit.  She took too much pleasure in asking about my weather this morning when she called, and even more pleasure in complaining about how "cold" Culebra was.

When I woke up this morning, it was 3 (three/tres) degrees.  Yes, that's 3.  No zero after it or 8 before it.  Just plain 3.  that translates as hace mucho freaking frio (Paws Nest will be all over me for inproper grammer).

shall I send some split pea soup your way?

:D

Ohhh! Split pea soup is one of my top favorites! But...since you are in Maine, how about some lobster bisque? You don't have to catch the lobster though, really... I'll provide the sherry.

It's 70 here...admit it, you know that is cold! 70 at 1 p.m.???????

3 is just ridiculous. But it doesn't make 70 feel any warmer!

ok, I admit 70 is cold for you guys -- how wierd.  The bartenders at Dinghy Dock will be in jackets (as will the patrons).  I'll admit to not believing you, so I went on and looked at your temperature.  wow!!!  it's 34 (thats a three with a four after it) now and sunny -- only 40 degrees colder than you.  Makes me feel a little better, but not much.

lobster bisque on it's way.  I'll keep the split pea for myself.  I'll also send mittens and wool socks.

:)

It really was chilly and wet enough to be mighty discouraging to all the people with a day off, a long weekend, on a vacation, and perhaps most of all, working and/or sitting outside!   However, believe us, we are mighty, mighty glad to NOT be up north today!!!

The weather is TRYING to come back...it was an amazing afternoon watching it break and re-group. Birds were everywhere - gulls, pelicans, mockingbirds, hummingbirds - energized or freaked by this strange atmosphere.

This mockingbird was singing his little heart out, with another responding from a tree across the bay. If he doesn't look cold, I don't know what to call it...except getting ready to be made into a pillow!
