I was getting all set to do this post - getting the radar pic showing rain EVERYwhere but here. I even watered the gardens first to give it a fair chance! But noooooooo. So of course, it just started spitting. But I'll show the radar anyway, because it's kinda cool looking this morning.

The wind gusts were hard enough yesterday to prevent me even putting up the umbrella and I think the same will be true today. The bungee cords are strong, but I think I would have needed a three point set up and still someone could have been hurt, or worse, the umbrella broken! Yikes!

Chances of rain went from 40 to 60 % while I was at the gym (sweat in the air? NOT!). We'll see what happens.

High surf advisory in effect until 8 am AST Friday... Wind Advisory in effect from 8 am this morning to 8 PM AST this evening...

Hooray!!!  Getting enough rather heavy showers to dampen down the landscape -- couldn't be more welcome (unless you want to tan on the beach).  Very strong, gusty winds continue and the surf on the east and north sides of the island is huge.

P.S.   Can anyone out there explain why the San Juan radar is always "down for maintenance" ONLY when it is actually raining or storming and it would be enormously helpful to be able to view it?????    Possibly that it doesn't have a raincoat and umbrella?????

I've contacted them about this issue...a year or so ago. They seem as frustrated as we do! Maybe the maintenence fairies only work in fair weather?

FYI, Lurker Dude has held down my umbrella a time or two, once saving someone from getting pierced

It's been one of those pretty wonderful days of sun, very welcome rain and gusty winds that has one inside/outside/inside/outside.
At some point I was out in the hammock reading and when the rain started up again, I came inside to find The Cat Who Isn't Mine ensconced on the bed, in a most peculiar position. I think she was trying to pull the cover up but fell asleep in the meantime. I wish she could learn to relax...

I keep reading my post to see where I mentioned the gym...oh well, too early I guess. But yes, there is a gym. It is free. And...I saw a box with a new treadmill in it. I'll know tomorrow if they actually set it up!

MJ...Read until just before the () you will see the word GYM. I mean you look really great so working out certainly could be in your daily routine!

Hi Island Woman, I'm researching Culebra for my vacation spot at the end of May.  I wanted to know if that's a good time, weather wise, to come down?  I've looked online and weather reports say June - November is hurricane season in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.  I'm trying to beat out that season but they also said it's rainy season in May.  So, could you give me some idea of what to expect.

Thank you
Iris

forecast for May is 85 degrees and a slight chance of showers.

All kdding aside, the weather in Culebra is almost always sunny, beautiful and perfect.  A rainy day is a rarity -- as a matter of fact so rare than on those rainy days, island residents rejoice in the change in weather and the welcomed rain (culebra by nature is dependant on rain water for survivial).   I know Island Woman in particular rejoices in not having to water her beautiful gardens and precious pepper plants.....

May does have more of a chance for occassional showers than the winter months -- but nothing that will interfer with a perfect vacation......

On another post, Hillman has posted annual rainfall totals which may be interesting for you to look at -- here is the link
