I woke up a number of times to the sound of rain last night. It was cool and just good sleeping weather and it obviously rained more than just a bit...the mat outside was actually wet! I am going to let the plants soak up the lovely benefits of rain and not disturb it with *town* water. I know they'll be happy!
The sun is glittering off the water, which is blue and beautiful this morning, as it was all yesterday afternoon. I hope it's a good day for fishing as some people I know are heading out as I type, looking to land some big ones.
I've had to park my car in a couple of different places up different streets as the trench guys have been at work in front of my drive. Yesterday I was carrying groceries and two plants a friend brought me at the cart (garlic and papayas, thanks Little Laurie! and have a great trip!) . I thought I'd have to go way down the street in the mud that has been churned up, just to get anywhere near where I could cross over into my yard (my days of lightly springing over a two foot wide, five foot deep trench are over...did I really leap farther from boats to docks every day?). But then one of the guys saw me and motioned for me to cross over near him...there, hidden practically under this gigantic machine, they'd left a little filled in spot I could use, right into the drive, sort of a duck and tightrope move - or it felt like that. As much as I can't wait for them to leave with their huge noisy machines, they have been nothing but helpful and polite in every way possible.
Well, maybe one day in the far off future there will actually BE a sewer system. We'll believe it when we don't see it.
Yesterday Gifford came by to discuss things solar. We noticed the Cat Who Isn't Mine stalking the land crab who lives under my shower. She's smart though and walked casually away, recognizing a painful possibility. I went to get my camera as ususally the only time I see this guy is when he is knows I'm not expecting it, the big claw extended to test the breeze...Mike says, oh, this is a small one! I said...yeah, not when you are butt nekkid and that claw comes up through the grating on the shower floor...

I hate the thorns on this, but the *flowers* are so pretty, tiny, bright yellow balls of bloom. Thanks for the rain and the shows that follow...

The "Cat Who isn't Mine" is the name of the cat?
Love it, pure Caribbean, up there along with the
great "Monkey No Climb" tree. Last edited on Wed May 21st, 2008 06:53 pm by Jim

Yes...that is the name of the cat...previously known as Orangina. No longer her moniker. And she seriously doesn't care, in true cat fashion.
