Since I was awake and checking email I got to see something I haven't seen for awhile; color in the sky at pre-sunrise time this morning. With a tropical wave approaching and the hopes of rain maybe going to be fulfilled, I decided that the warning part of *Red sky at morning, sailors take warning* might just be the warning to get water catchers all ready!

When I went outside to take the pic, there was actually drizzle in the air. Only enough to know it was there, and it was over with in minutes, but a good sign, I hope! Yesterday the heat and humidity were oppressive, the first time this year I've felt the weight of the air and that sticky covering of sweat that leaves me coated with dust when sitting at the cart. Dust being a nice way of saying kicked up raod dirt. Between lots of tourists here this weekend in rental cars and the water truck filling (and re-filling and re-filling) across the street, I felt a little bit like the character Pig Pen in the Charlie Brown comic strip by the time I was done with the day of what I call work (and the rest of Culebra calls hanging out on the corner reading, giving directions, chatting with friends and doing the Culebra Chamber of Commerce bit in decent English and very bad Spanish, while occasionally selling something).

A partial bit of the weather folk discussion this morning, for a more (or less) accurate read on what we can look forward to  (or not) in the next couple of days.

Discussion...patches of moisture will continue to move across the
local area from time to time early this morning. However...a slot
of dry air ahead of the tropical wave will move over the area late
this morning...which will allow for a temporary break in the
clouds and shower activity. The approach of the tropical wave
from the east on Wednesday...combined with the middle to upper level
trough to our northwest...is still expected to bring active weather
across the forecast area Wednesday through Thursday morning. However...
the timing of the arrival of the tropical wave will be an important
factor...on how much shower activity is expected across the local
area.

On my way back inside, I happened to glance up and the moon was still shining brightly, if a bit raggedly. My bet is on that mouse nibbling on green cheese. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
