As forecast last week, weather activity has increased. I'll let the TWO speak for itself (and soon, I'll ask Hilltop to speak for me, as I'll be leaving for a month...hope he didn't resign after last year!)

200 AM EDT SUN AUG 10 2008

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

A LARGE TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED OVER THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC ABOUT 1300
MILES EAST OF THE WINDWARD ISLANDS IS PRODUCING LIMITED AND
DISORGANIZED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.  HOWEVER...UPPER-LEVEL
WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME MORE FAVORABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THIS
SYSTEM DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS IT CONTINUES WESTWARD AT
ABOUT 15 TO 20 MPH.

A SECOND AREA OF DISTURBED WEATHER IS LOCATED OVER THE FAR EASTERN
ATLANTIC ABOUT 500 MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. SLOW
DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM IS POSSIBLE AS IT MOVES WESTWARD AT
ABOUT 15 MPH.

The new invests are 92L and 93L. 92 is the one behind 93, which means it was named first; they've been watching this one a few days now. 93 just sort of...got together pretty fast.

It's definitely head's up time again, though of course (and my hope) is that they don't hold together. Not quite looking like that though, particularly in 92's case. Be wrong, be wrong!

OH! I know exactly what you need! One large baked potato, baked or micro'd, but really cooked. Open it, put in a LOT of butter and some milk. Mush mush mush mush mush with a fork. More milk? More butter? It should be on the edge of soupy. Salt.
Put it in a really pretty bowl. Get in bed and eat it. I'm telling you this is the ultimate wonder food for gentling out the spirit, soul and body. Even in summer! Ask my kids, they declare to this day that this is the magic food of magic foods. Of course...it's best when served by me, but apparently works when served by self as well. Which is a good thing.

uH oH ALL -- I haven't liked the look of the blobs coming across the Atlantic for several days, and seemingly the OFFICIAL powers that be are noticing them too.   Maybe Island Woman knows what she's doing, leaving for a month, but I have total confidence in Hillman.   Do keep us posted, and Island Woman, have a great time, wherever you are, escapting the gloom that descends as the heart of hurricane season comes on.  Can you post, ever, from whereever you are kicking up your heels??   There is something to be said from the viewpoint from up north, but on the other hand, we all want to hear from those in the sights of Invest whatever....

This is a hard time of year to leave, to tell the truth, but it's the only good time to get away for me. A big part of me will be here, watching and hoping for the best! I'll be taking my computer along so hopefully I'll get plugged in on and off.

Yes, the activity has ratcheted up. All I know to do is put out the word for head's up and prep's done. Here is the latest...not what I wanted to see.

1. A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE IS
LOCATED OVER THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC OCEAN ABOUT 1000 MILES EAST OF
THE WINDWARD ISLANDS. ALTHOUGH ASSOCIATED SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM
ACTIVITY HAS DECREASED THIS EVENING...ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
APPEAR FAVORABLE FOR GRADUAL DEVELOPMENT...AND THIS SYSTEM HAS THE
POTENTIAL TO BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF
DAYS AS IT MOVES WESTWARD AT 15 TO 20 MPH.
