Not only waking up to pitter patter, but it's still raining and quite a bit harder, though of course it could stop any second. I know I don't have to water any of the gardens this morning though!
The radar looks like we might have more on the way (again, believing with the radar! oh well, it's another season, why not give it a go?) I wouldn't mind an all day soaker, though I doubt we'll have that. We'll have just enough to have me doing the open/close? dance at the cart, always entertaining for the firemen at the station across from me, and a challenge for me - will the rain be enough to close? how long should I wait? I look really stupid sitting here in the rain, but I'm reading, maybe people will think I'm just eccentric...
At the moment, the rain has stopped and it's growing brighter, but I still have hopes of coffee being brought to me in bed, and the NY Times arriving while it rains all day.

MJ,
Don't torture yourself, have a cup of joe under the Dinghy roof and consume some chapterage. For those who think rain in de ilons is ugly, I present the latest cover of BVI Welcome, taken by a correspondent of mine at a BVI board. Enjoy!

Doug

and these are, foreground, the yard long beans (the kids were VERY excited about planting VERY BIG beans! so am I). The rest of those little green things are weeds - that is for tomorrow's work.., background in the second round tub are some melons. I can't wait to see them sprawl out over the top and into the yard behind the tubs! Cucumbers are in the first tub, but they seem to be taking their time.

Yeah I do...since the minute people knew I was growing *stuff* here (which, in SOMEONE'S case, was the minute I stepped onto Culebra), I've been asked to grow...other *stuff*!!! Well, my reply is, if I don't use it, I don't grow it. But I admit, I did inhale (notice the indentation of the middle of the Florida east coast? that was me). However, that was about three incarnations of MJ ago. If we can grow a vodka plant...the children are in trouble. I'm working on cranberries....

I said it to Laurie at 2:30 this morning while I was cowering in the basement with the cat, and I'll say it again, this time with a picture that's worth more than a thousand words.

Ouch!!! I couldn't read the fine print (by the way Debbie, there is some pic at the end of your posts that doesn't work??) but that house looks...gone? What was that?
And if it wasn't the Solomon Islands....then I'd include that too....

Yeah, I couldn't figure out how to get the whole thing on here without squishing it. This picture is from Atlanta - we had severe thunderstorms with 40mph winds overnight. I had the windows open, and it sounded like a freight train, but kind of not like a freight train, but kind of like. . . so I hightailed it to the basement until it passed. There were no tornadoes reported; the winds were downbursts; no circulation, but it sure sounded like I would have expected a tornado to sound. This is obviously a poorly built house - came off the foundation and split in half! The owner (fine print said) was thankfully not home.
You should see a little fishie moving back and forth on my signature. Can others see it?Last edited on Thu Apr 5th, 2007 12:23 am by Diving Debbie

| My parents, by the way, are camping in their 30-foot motor home with ALL of my nephews this week on a lake outside of Atlanta. It's spring break here. When I called to find out what 40mph feels like in a motor home, and were the boys alright and all that, Mom told me that she heard the freight train sound, she woke my Dad so that they could get the awning up before it snapped off, and in the 2 minutes it took them to get up and outside, the wind had taken the awning and snapped it over the top of the motor home. It's so damaged, they have to repair it before they come home; they can't drive it with it hanging off like that. My nephews (6 - 12 in age) were calm, cool and collected. There was not enough warning for them to get to shelter. I'm thankful there were no tornadoes.
