While checking our local weather today from weather underground (as it's gotten a bit grey and overcast, with apparently some fast moving showers headed our way), I was quite surprised to see this from the St. Thomas weather station...

Observed at: St. Thomas, Virgin Islands Elevation: 23 ft / 7 m 27 °F / -3 °C Mostly Cloudy

Maybe I do better in cold weather than I thought, because I still have the fans on here on Culebra. I sure hope those in St. Thomas who are planning on being outdoors for Carnival cover up!

Brilliant! You won't see this very often! Or maybe never again.

I'm not emotionally able to make jokes about blowing snow...however, if I were so inclined, I can think of a few descriptions, none of which require mittens.
As of 5:38 here is the latest report.

Observed at: St. Thomas, Virgin Islands Elevation: 23 ft / 7 m 23 °F / -5 °C Scattered Clouds

Hmmm, it IS getting a bit cooler! My SJ weather guru Luis, who I contacted about this anomoly, says this will be fixed soon, but in the meantime, it is, well, chilling (as I bow down to the weather gods in thanks that I haven't experienced that sort of cold in....a very very very long time).

Ah - you outed me!! I'm always so disappointed that I can't participate here during the day. I admit a moment of shock when I saw "my" screenprint here. I had to look very closely to see if I had let go of any information that could get my butt fired. Big brother is always watching. . .

I'm sure you noticed that I had FOUR internet browser windows open. . .

And I appreciate it! I don't know if you knew before today where I work, but now you do, and they are sticklers for the rules. Every infraction is "grounds for termination." I get sick of seeing that phrase quite frankly; makes one feel like the company is filled with 60,000 imbeciles.

I called Bayberry and made her go turn her computer on to see it for herself.....and surely, Diving Queen, you would know that I wouldn't pass up on asking our resident weather expert to explain.....

:D

I think we should all quit our jobs and become weather women......what a job. Talk about egg on your face....or in this case blowing snow:shock:

A very cold morning!

Current Conditions Updated: 30 min 41 sec ago
Observed at: St. Thomas, Virgin Islands Elevation: 23 ft / 7 m
9 °F / -13 °C Clear
Wind: 9 mph / 15 km/h / 4.1 m/s  from the ENE  ;
Pressure: 29.98 in / 1015 hPa (Falling) Windchill: -4 °F / -20 °C

It's the wind chill that will bite your nose and toes off, so they say.

Incredible that this has not been fixed yet! My instruments show 78 degrees, with 75 percent humidity, and a fairly good wind going on..windchill factor maybe, oh...76.

I'm guessing that somehow the zip code has either two numbers reversed, or the first number wrong (what is the zip code for Nome, Alaska, for instance?).   Wunderground's forecast is actually the one for Charlotte Amalie, even though they nicely label it Culebra if you ask it to....

Anyway, Bayberry is fascinated imagining dogsled races and seal hunts, Weather Woman....

Yep, your guess is close to my weather guru's in SJ. Sometimes the report is out of Vieques from a friend's weather station there. Our very sophisticated weater station on Culebra is a wet thumb for wind speed and direction, and wet or dry hair for rain or sunshine. Simple, but darn if it doesn't work! Looking at the sky is also used in configuring the forecast. In case of blindness, our forecasts are still about as accurate as any professional, anywhere, in a long range statistical, exponential sort of way.

Wow Sis, a thats COLD front! Very scary! Merri is packing her beach Muk-luks as I type! I guess I better bring my long-sleeved t-shirt and snow sandals! Dang, its enough to shrink my jingle bells! Maybe we should wait for summer? Did the humidometer show this coming? Can I still ICE fish? Does the "Windrider" have Runners for this sort of thing? Are the Banana quits quitting? How could they get started in this weather? I'm checking on a icebreaker for the ferry route! See ya'll s-s-s-oooon!

Hopefully by the time you get here it will have warmed up - you know those wacky weather fronts...one minute you feel like you are freezing by the fire and the next minute you feel like you are on fire. The humidometer was too cold to do anything. It is under my pillow now, as I wait for the Blue fairy to bring me a real, live boy. Ooops, wrong story.
The forecast for your time here is PERFECTION with a twist(ed sistah).

Anyway, it's already warmed up to a tropically toasty 35!!

Observed at: St. Thomas, Virgin Islands Elevation: 23 ft / 7 m 35 °F / 2 °C Partly Cloudy

those are actually called hot flashes, and it has something to do with waiting for the Live Boy Fairy:D

This morning it is amazing that anyone would have ventured out of her (his) igloo to check the temp at -8 degrees!!!!    Is the glitch getting even more ridiculous????  Go check http://www.wunderground.com and put in zip code of 00775 if you don't believe this...

It's not just Weather Underground -- NWS has the same temps (40 degrees colder than Maine I might add:D) at http://www.srh.noaa.gov/forecast/MapClick.php?CityName=Culebra&state=PR&site=SJU
