I can't think of a better place to celebrate freedom and independence than Culebra, even though we won't have a firework in the sky (at least that I know about). Enjoy family and friends, and good food. For the *not Americans* be kind to your occasionally conflicted ex-pat friends today. America really is beautiful, even if we choose not to live there.

It looks like it is going to be a beautiful warm day - good beachin' and bar b que weather! Vive la vida!

It was good to see that no matter how high the buildings rise, even San Juan has fishermen going out at dawn.

We are going to the Dupont Estate today, (No, they aren't there) to enjoy one of the last crumbling old Mansions on Palm Beach with some friends, (one of their Moms is a 40 year employee

I didn't get sparklers (and here was a weird thing this year...I have not heard ONE cherry bomb go off. Asked people at our little get together tonight and no one else has heard anything either. Very very very odd and we don't know why) but we had a sparkling good time!
Today was postcard as far as the weather....brilliant blue skies, good breeze. A few of us went to the beach in the afternoon and it was perfect...just enough sun, just enough wind. I did get my first urchin interaction...rubbed sand on it and used my own natural remedy (yep, that would be urine) and it never stung a bit...nice little black marks though. I'm thinking this could be tattoo material somehow!
For freedom and independence...! SALUT!
