What a strange day...sunshine, rain, ominous looking clouds, rain to the left and right of us so heavy looking but barely touching us.
Tomorrow night is the Chili cook off at Mamacita's, so, roped in by Ronni (gotta step up to the girl side with Caroline), I cooked all day - I signed up for the hot chili and found a new secret ingredient. This chili cooks ...um...hindquarters! So, as the fake winner last year (with the worst food I've ever made in my life, but winner, thanks to Ronni's error, which she swears will NOT happen this year) I'm throwing down the guantlet to Zach, last year's REAL winner. Check this space for updates on who will be buying WHO a drink. And if it is me, it won't be a drink at Mamacita's, where Zach can get off easy.
Oh yeah, the weather....well, this pic will maybe say how strange the day was weather wise. Shiny strange.

Me likey chili and chiles.  Today's high is to be 52, so the long CO2 Summer takes its leave or, at least, a break.  Let's do a chili supper in January, eh?

January (well, Dec. 28) is only..............away!  A week from now you'll be able to tell from my vacation ticker! Hah.  Sometimes, I'm accompanied by my organic Mardi Gras ticker, John.  He has no marketable skills except, upon request, orates: "XXX days until Mardi Gras. God Bless America." Patty M, currently in all our thoughts, was a fan of old John-boy.

Anyway, if ingredients from the states are needed, let me know. I'll happily hit El Patio at dawn for loaves.

The only ingrediant I can think of that we don't have is you statesiders! Loaves and chili indeed. Like it's going to be a cold winter evening...okay, I can go along with that.

Now...chili cook off means we ALL have to make chili, to keep it interesting. So bring it on! We'll canvas the neighbors for taste testing and get a winnah!

Sylvia gave me a very cool recipe for breadfruit tostones today, something I never heard of that sounds delicious. She says it's much more flavorful than plantains. Gotta try it.

weeeeeeeell, don't forget that it wasn't me that started the winter "my feet are cold whining". How bout some good stateside flour to make some yummy bread? And I think a team chile effort is a grande idea!! Breadfruit tostones sound yummy too. I guess I'm just hungry.

Yippeee, I'm an ingredient!  It's going on my resume. I feel kind of cheap and tawdry in an exciting way...if it's not already taken, I'll be cumin!

My, my, Admin, you are on a roll (that's a roll, not a loaf).

The After Party is at my house remember - bring on the chili!

And, DAMMIT, my feet are cold and the pilot light is apparently out, and SOMEONE is out of town. I hate cold feet!
