I thought I'd be saying it was all over this morning...good thing I couldn't get online (weather related, natch), as the winds came up again and it has been raining since last night. Dudley the dog thought that meant a free pass to sleep on my head, which worked until he was actually ON my head and woke me up. Winds were blowing in all the windows at various times, and it was blanket chilly. Which it still almost is - all the fans are off right now.
But at least the doors can be open now and a window or two. I'd rather see white outs than nothing.
And, looking at this, wet, grey and indoors looks like the theme of the day.

I've been through the thunder with Dudley...and Sonny...and all of the dogs and cats I sit for on occasion. Funny thing, NONE of them seem to enjoy lightning and thunder like I do!
Here's the cutie...he's hanging out in the dark room with Sonny, who's head is just visible from his bed on the floor. The cat is in here with me.

Update: as the rain keeps pouring down, this is the latest from the NWS. If it DOES become a named storm, it will be west of us, thankfully. I think we've had (and are having) enough
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
1130 AM EDT SAT OCT 27 2007
FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...
SATELLITE IMAGES AND SURFACE OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THAT THE AREA OF
LOW PRESSURE OVER THE CARIBBEAN SEA IS ON THE VERGE OF BECOMING A
TROPICAL DEPRESSION. THE LOW HAS BEEN MOVING SLOWLY TOWARD THE
SOUTHWEST AND IS NOW CENTERED HALFWAY BETWEEN HISPANIOLA AND ARUBA.
THIS SYSTEM IS ACCOMPANIED BY NUMEROUS SQUALLS WHICH ARE AFFECTING
MUCH OF THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN SEA AND ADJACENT ISLANDS...PRIMARILY
PUERTO RICO AND THE VIRGIN ISLANDS. THE LOW IS EXPECTED TO MOVE
SLOWLY TOWARD THE WEST-SOUTHWEST AND THEN WEST...AND ENVIRONMENTAL
CONDITIONS APPEAR TO BE SOMEWHAT FAVORABLE FOR A TROPICAL
DEPRESSION TO FORM WITHIN THE DAY OR SO...AS THE SYSTEM APPROACHES
THE WESTERN CARIBBEAN SEA. AN AIR FORCE PLANE WILL INVESTIGATE THE
AREA ON SUNDAY IF NECESSARY.
ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.

I came over to my house; the streets are flooded, the mud is running into the bay. I haven't gone to town yet because I wanted to check out my place first, all is well - I was afraid the windows I usually keep open (one of them over my bed) might have made my inside world a little soggy, but it's all good. The car I'm using had water in the little cup holders and pocket thingies in the rear seats, inches of water! Thank goodness for beach towels left in cars!

I made the trip into town...very few people about, though tonight is the Halloween party at Mamacita's. Hope it goes well, I don't have the energy and have the toothache from hell, which dear Hector did his best to remedy, including pressure points.
It has started raining again, a slow rain. I'll head back up the hill soon to the dogs, treats in hand...and hope it will all be gone tomorrow.
This system has potential for other areas still. It's huge, considering that it is now below the DR and still impacting us. Hope all will be well for those in the serious mountain areas.
I'd add a photo, but it's just more greyness.
