I am sad to report the passing of Doña Nicamedes. She was
99years old. A strong woman from the best days of Culebra,
Doña Nica was the adopted mother of 19 with an additional
19 she helped raise.
Some of the people raised by Doña Nica include Jorge at
Mini-mas and Jaime Rivera (Lisa). Doña Nica and her brother
Loncho raised the kids and ran Hotel Puerto for years. Doña
Nica Ayala Serrano was the daughter of Doña Felipa Serrano
whom the Apartment complex overlooking Sardina Bay was
named. The CC is working with the family and will try
to include a story this month if possible, if not, next month.
