Susie is HOPING to have her new restaruant open on Friday...of course that always involves checking off the paperwork from the powers that be, so it might NOT be Friday. But today we had a great time helping her do some finishing bits, though there are, of course, always more. But painting and cleaning and laughing, while some guy stomped on the roof checking for leaky spots, commeced apace. With the after reward of provided food and drink, storytelling and future hopes, which led to song and dance...which led to a bunch of tired people going home with grins on; a little closer to Opening Day.

Here is a teaser photo of what is to come, soon! Here's to Susie! All best wishes in the new venture...it ain't the paint darlin' (though it is so pretty and islandy and very much a work of a lot of labor and a lot of love) it's your FOOD we are all waiting for!

go over the bridge, take a right -- go past Milka's grocery store, and you'll see Susie's straight ahead in front of the gas station.  Don't miss this fantastic cooking!!

Well, it won't be tomorrow for an opening, unfortunately. There always seems to be one more hoop to be legit! But they are slogging as fast as they can...stay tuned

Definitely looking forward to a Susie's repast on my next visit.  Is she getting a liquor license?

She'll be getting a liquor license, but not at first - BYOB will be the route to go until that happens.

It wouldn't be Culebra if a restaurant didn't run out of food. Best of luck to her!

We'll be at the first Mardi Gras ball of the season, and I will raise a plastic cup of vino to Susie's success!  Soft opening, indeed! Like y'all'd let there be anything but a vivid, musical, gala abierto grande!

We had a nice meal at Susie's a couple of weeks ago when we were on the island. Great service as well. One dish we ordered was her island mash. It was excellent and I have been trying to find a recipe for something similar. Any idea what root veggies made up the dish and what else she might have included in the mash. If it is a guarded recipe I do understand.
  Thanks
