Getting to Culebra Island

Every trip to Culebra will involved airplanes and/or a ferry ride. If you are coming from anywhere else in the world than the main island of Puerto Rico, you will have to start with getting to San Juan (SJU). From San Juan you have a few options. You can fly from San Juan to Culebra from San Juan Isla Grande Airport (SIG). Click here for Airline and Flight Information.

Alternatively you can take an hour long ferry ride from Fajardo, Puerto Rico. The round trip pn the ferry is under $5. Fajardo is about an hour from San Juan. To get to Fajardo, you may take a taxi service (which will cost about $70-$90), or you can rent a car and drive yourself. For anyone looking for a little adventure, renting a car can be a great option. You can often find car rentals from SJU airport for around $16 a day. So, its worth paying for the car to sit in the lot for a day or two while you explore Culebra. The car will be there when you get back so you can continue on and do some more exploring in Puerto Rico, or drive back to San Juan. Click here for the Culebra and Vieques Ferry Schedule and other general ferry information.
