Puerto Rico and Travel
Travel to Puerto Rico is quite different than many other Caribbean locations. There is no passport required to visit the Puerto Rico as well as Vieques and Culebra Islands. A United States Drivers License will also allow you to rent and drive a car on the main island, or either two of the islands mentioned above. If you plan to visit any of the British Virgin islands (St. John, St. Martin, etc) during your stay, you will need to bring a passport with you to be granted access.
The currency is the United States Dollar. Spanish is the primary language spoken. You should be able to get by in most tourist areas with limited Spanish knowledge. However, any effort to speak Spanish is greatly appreciated by the locals. The further you are from tourist areas you are, the more Spanish you should be familiar with.
